Tobacco mated with a bull

Russian and Belarusian scientists have developed a tobacco, which grows faster and earlier starts to bloom. They introduced the gene into the chromosome of the plant, taken from the adrenal glands of cows. He is responsible for the synthesis of a substance called cytochrome P450SCC. Cytochrome in turn contributes to the cycle of biochemical reactions in the finals which are obtained by hormones that ensure accelerated growth of plants and other qualities that are useful for the national economy.

At the press select all rights to alcohol and tobacco advertising

Printing editions of Ukraine next year can have serious deficiency of the advertising budget. Most likely, advertising of tobacco and spirits in 2010 will be impossible. Publishers knew for a long time already about future changes. An interdiction expected to "bypass" at the expense of registration of editions, as specialised press. However last Friday in the Supreme Rada of Ukraine the bill which calls into question possibility of such roundabout way has been registered.

It is known that the interdiction for advertising of cigarettes and alcohol in a press comes into force since January, 1st, 2010. Thus until now in the law it has not been accurately defined, it is possible to consider what edition "specialised". It is natural that many publishing houses have re-registered the printing editions, as specialised. Under all documents of the edition existing at that point in time could apply for carrying out of the advertising companies of tobacco and alcohol.

On November, 6th, 2009 in the Supreme Rada deputies БЮТ Elena Kondratyuk and Nikolay Bagreevym had been presented the bill №5316 «About modification of the law« About advertising ». In it it is said that specialised it is necessary to consider only those editions which anyhow shine themes of manufacture, distribution or consumption of alcoholic drinks and tobacco, or the editions focused on those who is engaged in economic activities in these spheres.

Publishers are unpleasantly surprised by the new bill. After all by their estimations advertising of cigarettes and alcohol now makes about 5 % in press aggregate profits. Some editions focused on a man's audience, can brag of that in their incomes tabachno-alcoholic advertising makes 50-60 %.

Certainly, partially it is possible to bypass also the new bill. Some break-even sales level can be kept at the expense of so-called sponsor's packages. If it is impossible to place advertising of mark of cigarettes Pall Mall to advance company British American Tobacco, apparently, it is possible. However advertisers concern such offers with care. Desire of publishing houses nevertheless to receive the advertising budget does not coincide with desire of the tobacco companies not to risk. The director for corporate questions «JTI-Украина» Dmitry Redko has noticed that offers on advertising by means of sponsor's packages from the press already arrive, but the tobacco company will not be advertised, exact interpretation of the law yet not becomes known.

Most likely the companies trading in alcohol, will choose the same way, as the tobacco companies. Besides till now in a press the advertising companies only bonus group of production were spent. If transparent and lawful offers from publishing houses will not be, the alcoholic companies will redistribute the budget on other kinds of advertising. We will tell, on TV advertising of spirits is lawful from 23:00 till, and as in the form of sponsorship.
